Oven:
- From thawed: Salt roast and let set out at room temperature for approximately 30:00 minutes. Preheat your oven to 500°F. Pat the roast dry with paper towels and then season with salt and pepper all over. Place the roast fat side up in a roasting pan. Insert a meat thermometer (oven proof) into the thickest part of the roast. Cook the roast at 500°F in the oven for 15:00 minutes, then lower oven temp to 325°F to finish roasting. Cook about 33:00 minutes for rare (internal temperature reaches 115°F) and 42 minutes for medium rare (internal temperature reaches 125°F). Once the roast has reached the temperature you want, remove it from the oven and place it on a carving board. Cover it with foil and let it rest for 15:00 to 30:00 minutes before carving.

Prime Rib was amazing!!! I made beef burgundy and I would have to say I’m never using a different cut for a Dutch Oven roast.

Would not recommend. Ordered and cooked according to your instructions and to an internal temperature of 120. It was tough and there was a vein of gristle approx 1/8th of an inch running thru the entirety of the roast. We ate it the first night and gave the rest (approx half) to the dogs.

This was my first purchase of the Prime Rib Roast and it will not be my last. The roast is already trimmed and boneless and ready for your preferred way to cook. We used the Traeger smoker and it took about 3 hours to get to medium temperature (the meat was thawed). The flavor and quality of the meat were excellent. This is a new favorite and we look forward to getting it again.
