Job Title: Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly
Pay Rate: $22.00/hr plus $0.50/hr shift premium
SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor performs non-routine duties. Must be able locate and diagnose failures and complete complex repairs and troubleshooting from detailed specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to do fabricate parts including cutting, grinding, and welding
- Ability to read of electrical schematics and use of a multimeter
- Ability to troubleshoot and detect common electrical problems on equipment to include electric motors, contactors, relays, safety circuits, and a variety of machine switches and make repairs as necessary.
- Must have experience on high voltage AC (480v ,220, 120), low control voltage AC (24V, 12V,5V), muti volts, AC/DC, muti amps AC/DC
- Ability to incorporate new parts and to replace obsolete temperature controls, transducers and frequency controls
- Ability to read hydraulic and pneumatic drawings and perform repairs
- Must understand PLC’s frequency controls, direct current devices, temperature controls and transducer’s
- Ability to redesign electric control panels and incorporate the design into existing equipment
- Ability to use small handheld tools
- Ability to detect and repair bearings, gear boxes, sprockets, chains and oil leaks
- Perform and maintain Preventative Maintenance on new and existing food processing equipment following applicable safety and sanitation guidelines
- Performs set ups, tear down and safety checks on production equipment
- Knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting such as threading and sweating pipes
- Ability to design and build transfer conveyors using clean welds
- Ability to identify and repair problems on interlock and wire belts
- Must be able to perform or incorporate temporary repairs in a safe and efficient way on existing equipment
- Ability to rebuild, redesign and incorporate, update components for food processing equipment
- Must be able to sharpen blades and cutting equipment
- Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical systems
- Must be able to weld and cut using Tig, Mig, Acetylene, and Plasma
- Work on special projects as needed
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalence Certificate preferred, but not required. 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment preferred.

Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

MATHEMATICAL/FINANCIAL SKILLS:
Must be able to do basic math calculations using a working knowledge of both standard and metric measurements.

Ability to apply disciplined knowledge to analyze and resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

- Uses both hands to perform necessary repairs and installations
- Perform physical activities that require moving one’s whole body, such as lifting, stooping, crawl, squat, kneel, bending from waist, turning, and twisting
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to distinguish colors to safely identify electrical wiring
- Walks/stands on even concrete surface, which may at times be slippery due to marinates, water, and other liquids associated with the production process
- Able to lift 50-70lbs. unassisted
Able to work assigned shift(s) with frequent overtime. Must be on call for 24/7 emergencies. Travel not required for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- The office environment is typically climate controlled of 68ºF to 72ºF and clean, with normal air contaminants, such as dust, typically found in an office environment.
- The indoor production environment is climate-controlled of 40ºF to 45ºF with regular exposure to prolonged noise.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
While in the production area, all employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include hair and beard nets, rubber soled shoes, smocks, hearing protection and hard hats.
